P.K. O’Neill failed voters
P.K. O’Neill suggested that he should not be held accountable for his support of the Commerce Tax, AKA Ballot Question 3 Margins Tax.
P.K. had said all along he had not made a decision or was studying the issue. Unfortunately for him, he was intimately aware that about 80 percent of the residents of Assembly District 40, along with the rest of the state electorate, said “no.” That was a clear mandate from the people of Nevada to our representatives.
Based on the public vote, P.K. came before the people of Carson City and emphatically stated that he would not support the Margins Tax and included this promise in his campaign literature to every voter in AD 40.
Many supported and voted for him based on that promise. Just before he cast his vote in favor, he told a group of senior citizen men he would not vote for the tax.
P.K. owed the electorate of AD 40 an explanation of his sudden change of heart before he voted in the legislative session. He chose the coward’s way out and voted yes, leaving it to the press to tell us.
P.K. should be held accountable for his blatant abuse of the truth and voting him out of office is the only way to do that. Allow me to be the first to say, “Goodbye, P.K. You had your chance to represent the people of AD 40. Instead you were too weak to stand up to the pressure of the office and failed those voters.”
