Carson City residents should avoid any outdoor activities this weekend if they want to stay dry.
A storm cell is expected through Sunday night, bringing thunderstorms and precipitation to the area. The strongest storms are expected for today when the pressure is at its worst stability, but the rest of the week is expected to be mild and stormy, said National Weather Center Reno meteorologist Dustin Norman.
Carson residents may to see anywhere from an inch to and inch and a half of accumulated precipitation by Sunday night. Though some local streets may flood due to poor drainage with the heavy rain, no flooding is expected.
The temperatures will be in the high 60s, low 70s Thursday and Friday and stay in the mid to low 60s throughout the weekend. A high pressure system is expected to come through next week and warm up the region.
