A “Salute to Spring” is the theme of the 31st annual RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park in Carson City.

It all begins today with Dollar Night, when every ride is $1. The fun continues at the carnival on Friday and throughout the weekend, when Wold Amusements Carnival has all-day ride passes for $30. Stop by the RSVP Booth and get a $5 off Super Carnival Discount coupon, offering all-day passes for $25.

There are other treats in store on Saturday and Sunday. Starting on Saturday, there will be a DJ from 1 to 5 p.m., then it will be karaoke time from 5 to 8.

The beat goes on when the DJ returns from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

RSVP says “thank you” to all the great moms of Nevada with free all-day carnival rides when accompanying a child. RSVP would like to give a special thank you to Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota Scion for sponsoring both $1 night and its “moms ride free” event. Besides rides, the celebration also offers games and attractions, along with plenty of food and craft vendors.

On Saturday, May 7, RSVP will be hosting its second annual “A Day of Service” event. RSVP is proud to offer free booth space to its community service partners who give their time and talent to the community.

The event from 1 to 5 p.m. will feature the Carson City Senior Center, Ron Wood Family Resource Center, Empty Bowls and a canned food drive to benefit FISH. The event will feature a variety of veterans programs that are available throughout the region including the Mobile Vet Center.

Fair hours are 5 to 10 p.m. today; 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 6; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 7; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 8.

Proceeds from the fair go toward RSVP’s programs that help the area’s low-income and home bound seniors remain independent and in their own homes with dignity.
