The Senior Celebration continues to grow every year and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Senior Service Network of Carson City will present its 18th annual Senior Celebration to be held from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 19, at the Carson City Community Center.
The event is Northern Nevada’s largest health and information fair in honor of Older Americans month. While the event is focused to senior services, it’s open to everyone and is free.
Among the services provided at the event for everyone include free immunization and blood pressure checks. Four Northern Nevada hospitals will be represented at the event: Carson-Tahoe Health, Carson Valley Medical Center and Reno’s Renown Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital.
United Blood Services will also be represented, giving those who attend a chance to donate blood. Those attending the event who would like to donate blood are encouraged to schedule an appointment with United Blood Services.
Last year’s event drew more than 300 seniors and featured 75 vendors providing services and information for seniors. This year’s event is already bigger as 81 vendors have signed up to participate.
Senior Celebration Committee Chair Tara Alto said vendors from all over Northern Nevada will be represented. She said non-profit and governmental agencies have been encouraged to participate.
“We want the seniors to know about all of their resources,” Alto said.
Sens. Dean Heller and Harry Reid also will be represented at the event.
Those who are interested in being a vendor at the event there’s still time as the deadline to register is May 9. Those interested in becoming a vendor can contact Alto, 775-291-6776 or TAlto@colhospice.com or visit www.SeniorServiceNetwork.us.
Also featured at the event will be a cake walk, a DJ and raffle prizes. Everyone attending the event will receive one raffle ticket. The grand prize in the raffle will be an Ageless Aviation flight for one lucky senior.
The event is the largest fundraiser for the Senior Service Network. The organization provides numerous services for seniors including a one-time, emergency financial donation to seniors in dire situations.
