Supervisor should have declined pay raise

I find it ironic that Supervisor Jim Shirk, who votes “no” to funding just about any project that comes before him, yet has no problem saying “yes” to increasing the funding of his own wallet by accepting a raise. He can’t have it both ways. The other three supervisors and the mayor declined a pay increase.

Thank you,

Time to stand up for freedom

How did Hitler control Germany? With fear. How is our government attempting to control what we eat, drink and are medicated with? Fear. Wake up, America. The government has again decided that we must be too stupid to decide what we can drink, eat, what age we can smoke, what our doctors can prescribe and ultimately how we live and how we die. Remember the soda wars in New York, supersize me at our fast food restaurants, prohibition? We have given up our divine right of self determination.

We need to stand up for ourselves as a country that was founded on freedom. Take a look, for instance, at the huge narcotic scare perpetuated by the DEA and media. Fear. Directly resulting in many legitimate pain patients being under-medicated.

Patients are afraid of the label, “drug seeking,” the scarlet letter “A” for “addict” if they report pain or try to get help for pain.

Intolerance toward a group of people creates patients who are grossly mistreated by loved ones, medical personnel and laypersons who fail to understand the chemistry and biomechanics. Anyone who is on a prescribed pain medication for more than two weeks begins to habituate to that medication. Our country has lost empathy and sympathy for its own fellow countryman. We need to take our rights back, our lives back. A lot of crime could be adverted if certain intrinsic needs are met. We can be a great nation again.
