Pets of the Homeless held a wellness veterinary clinic May 21 at FISH that treated 86 pets for infectious diseases. Services were provided by Dr. Gary Ailes of Sierra Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Mike Pulver of Timberline Animal Hospital and his staff, and Dr. David Kowalek of Carson Tahoe Veterinary Hospital. Nails trims were done by groomer Jan Covey of Haute Dog. Everyone volunteered their time.
Clients left with pets fully vaccinated as well as with pet food, collars, leashes, other supplies and trimmed nails. Eleven free spay/neuter vouchers were given to clients. Pets of the Homeless will pay for the hard costs of the surgeries thanks to the generosity of the three hospitals. Jim Peckham, executive director of FISH, donated the facilities and provided pet food that Pets of the Homeless Donation Sites in Carson City took to the food bank before the event.
