On behalf of the Carson City Host Lion’s Club, I would like to thank all those who helped make the Tom Brooks Memorial Kid’s Fishing Day held on May 7 a great success. Approximately 110 kids and their parents/supervisors were provided an opportunity to fish with the assistance of members from the Kid’s Fishing Derby, Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the Carson City Host Lion’s Club. Young anglers also got to try out archery with the Clear Creek Bowmen and BB target shooting with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
The kids also enjoyed learning duck calls and duck identification courtesy of the Truckee River Outfitters, and Japanese fish painting with the River Wranglers. Because of the many generous donors, all kids were provided with a T-shirt, bait, hooks and a fishing rod if needed. There was also a raffle that included four beautiful bicycles.
Thank you to the following individuals, organizations, and businesses, for their very generous donations: The Carson City Hots Lion’s Club, Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, Tom Brooks Memorial Foundation, Nevada Bighorns Unlimited, Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club International, Carson Valley Chukar Club, Western Nevada Supply, Joe Young, Carson Fly Fishing Club, Carson City Tire Pros, Scheels Sports of Sparks, Dutch Bros., RMEF, NDOW Angler Education and Operation Game Thief, Buck Gardner Calls, CAL Ranch Stores, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Fast Signs, the KFD Volunteers, Mayor Robert Crowell, Skoosh Inc., River Wranglers, Dave Stanley and Kate of Truckee River Outfitters, Rob Smith of The Bike Smith, Drew Robison of Red Rock Dental, Chris Mackenzie of Allison Mackenzie Law Firm, Lumos & Associates, Jerrod Bottini, Bob Rittenhouse, Nevada Appeal, Jim O’Banion’s Aspen Lakes Ranch, United Site Services, Carson Now, and to the Carson Capitals Baseball Program.
