Education achievements: Gardnerville woman inducted into honor society

Holiday Newton of Gardnerville was one of 60 students inducted into the Champlain College chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success on Saturday, April 30. The second annual ceremony took place at Champlain College’s campus in Burlington, Vt.

The National Society for Leadership and Success, also known as Sigma Alpha Pi, is a leadership honor society for student leaders that operates chapters at different universities around the country. Invitation to the Society is exclusive, based on nomination from campus faculty, academic achievement, and or leadership potential. Students are also given access to leadership certification and scholarship opportunities through the organization.

Carson City native makes dean’s list

Carson City’s Bailey Griffin, a social work major at Harding University, is one of more than 1,300 university students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the spring 2016 semester.

To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.
