Wild man near Tonopah: A prospector by the name of Smith says there is a wild man roaming the desert between Tonopah and old Belmont who is as weird and strange a creature as man could fall upon. He is covered with hair, over six feet in height and appended to him is a bushy tale that sweeps the ground. When he sees a human, he runs like a mad man to the hills like wild horses, and has been seen grazing on the desert bunch grass. Mr. Smith claims to have seen him during a recent prospecting trip and plans to trap him.

V & T accident: A broken rail was believed to be the cause of an accident that threw three cars off the track — a tanker, mail coach and passenger car. No one was hurt even though six passengers were riding in the car.
