With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas ‘Tom’ Raymond Borda. He passed suddenly and peacefully in his sleep on November 6, 2016

Tom was born to Raymond “Dutch” and Eileen Cannon Borda in Carson City, Nevada. He was a second generation Nevada native and stubborn Basque. He attended Carson High School, where he was valedictorian of the class of 1972.

He married Sue Murray on April 6, 1974 in Carson City and they had had 3 children together. He mourned Sue’s passing on March 14, 2011.

He retired from Waste Management in 2008 as a route manager, after over 30 years of service. After his retirement, he found joy with his grandchildren-spoiling them rotten, and hiking around ‘C’ Hill.

In recent years, he found new love with his bride, Becky. They were married on August 13, 2016 in Genoa, Nevada. Together they were exploring their new chapter on life through travel and giving back to the community. He volunteered with the Tears and Rainbows Grief support group.

He was an active member of St. Teresa’s of Avila church and loved his San Francisco Giants and 49ers!

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Dutch and Eileen, sister Lucy and wife Sue.

He is survived by his wife Becky Borda (her children, Daniel, Joshua and Zachary (Brandi) Hickman), his children Stephanie King (Jason and his daughter Alexis), Jessica Borda, Matthew Borda (Laurie), his beloved grandchildren Jennalynn King, Cameron King, Grant Borda, his sister Terri Shier (John, Samantha, Shannon) and extended family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community on 3000 N. Lompa Ln on Saturday, November 19 at 10 a.m. in the large chapel.

Inurnment will be at Walton’s Carson Gardens Cemetery. Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center, F.I.S.H., or a charity of your choice in Tom’s name.
