January 15, 1932 – October 31, 2016



William Louis Ravenelle Sr., 84, passed peacefully in his home in Carson City, Nevada on October 31, 2016. Bill was surrounded by his family and wife of 60 years, Nora Ravenelle of Carson City.


Bill was a loyal and dedicated husband and loved by all who knew him.


Bill retired after 25 years with Lockheed where he was instrumental in the development of the tiles used on the Space Shuttle. . He loved his work and was proud to part of the Space Program. Bill was especially proud to have served the USArmy in the Korean War.


Bill is known in Carson City for his work at the Ormsby House in security.


Bill was extremely proud of his children – Margaret Ravenelle (deceased), Renee and Gary Bringuel of Paradise, California, Michael and Linda Ravenelle of Carson Carson City, Michele and Robert Meitzner of Carson City,

William and Shari Ravenelle of Carson City and Missi and Rick VanRensalaer of Auburn, California.


He left 12 grandchildren including Benjamin Moore, Timothy and Indu Moore, Angela and Michael Grouell, Ryan Ravenelle, Sara Ravenelle, Christopher Meitzner, Eric Meitzner, Amanda and Travis Freeman, Grace Ravenelle, Charlotte and Nick Bircheff, Sara and Kyle VanRensalaer. His great-grandchildren include Wyatt and Jesse Freeman, Devon and Jordan Grouell, Chevelle, Cali, Brody and Jaxon Moore.


Services will be held on November 22, 2016 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in the Chapel at 11:00 am. All family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life.


A service will be held at the VA Cemetery in Fernley at 1:30 pm.


Special thanks to the “Angels” at Gentiva Hospice for the support and love they showed to Bill and his family.
