Ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe basin are celebrating this weekend's storm
The storm, which is supposed to continue through this evening could bring up to 16 inches of snow above 7,000 feet, according to NWS, with 2 to 8 inches forecast down to 6,500 feet. Two inches are possible at lake level.
In Carson City, Sunday is expected to be rainy. Rain started about 10:15 a.m. and is expected to be in the forecast through Monday morning.
“Snow will make travel hazardous due to slick, snow-packed roads over the Sierra passes around the Tahoe Basin, with chain controls likely,” according to the advisory.Wind gusts are expected to reach 45 mph during the storm, according to NWS.
