Coffee lovers rejoice, Carson City will soon have another way to get their caffeine fix.
The Dutch Bros. franchise is expanding in Carson City, building a second location for customers off Highway 50 East.
“It is going to be great,” said Andy Head, owner of the Carson City Dutch Bros. Coffee, earlier this month. “We liked the vehicle and foot traffic and the proximity to the high school and lots of other businesses in the area. It is just a good area out there.”
The company has been open in Carson for nearly nine and a half years and it was only about three years ago it started thinking about expansion. Head said they finalized the plans just shy of a year ago to start building the second location.
The second shop will be bigger with a single side drive through with extra work stations inside. Head said they’re excited because this allows them to hire 30 to 40 additional employees, including providing their current employees job growth into training manager and assistant manager positions.
“We will have opportunities for people who have been here to grow and this is good for employee growth,” Head said.
Head said their customers are excited for them to be opening a second store in town.
“It has been mostly our customers but we have had a positive response, everyone is excited for the new shop,” Head said. “They are excited because they can drop in even if they are on the other side of Carson. It just really means a lot to have such a supportive community.”
For the Dutch Brothers employees and owners, getting to expand means they have more ways of helping give back to the community. The coffee shop is known for its several fundraisers a year, giving money to a variety of organizations around town.
“We want to be able to give more to the community and give back to the school and sports programs (around Carson City),” Head said. “With one location, we do as much as we can, but we want to support more, better, deeper to support the community who has supported us.”
Though the grand opening date isn’t set yet, the second location is expected to be finished in January 2017.
