Highway robbery near Cisco! Carsonites robbed of money and watches! One of the robbers killed and the booty recovered! Bragg and party, who left Carson yesterday, were robbed near Donner Lake last evening of three watches and four hundred and twenty dollars. Money and watches recovered, and one robber killed shortly afterwards. None of the party were hurt.

Snowshoe Thompson: The last number of the Overland contains a splendidly written sketch by Dan de Quille, of Snowshoe Thompson, the man who used to make such wonderful trips over the mountains in the winter when all other communication was cut off. It is the leading article in the Overland and worth any one’s time to read.

Tonight at the Grand will feature an all-star cast headed by Charlotte Walker, Theodore Roberts, Thomas Meighan and others in the Jesse L. Lanky picturization of John Fox’s famous move, “The Trail of the Lonesome Pine.”

Three members of the Nevada state association of the Future Farmers of America met wit the Carson City Lions at the club’s regular meeting at the Hot Springs. Honored guests were Robert Childers, Fred Hansen and Dennis Heitman.

A compromise was reached Thursday when the Carson City Board of Supervisors approved a special use permit for an RV parking lot for the Carson City Nugget. On a 4-1 vote the Supervisors went against a recommendation by the Planning Commission to deny the request at the southeast corner of Stewart and Spear streets.

Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
