Sherlyn Ann (Colburn) Armstrong, of Gardnerville Nevada, passed away on September 10, 2016, at the age of 61 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Los Angeles California to Vance and Ione (Badger) Colburn on April 12, 1955.


She was beloved companion to Douglas Fong, and loving mother to Joshua (Michele) Armstrong of Gardnerville NV, and Jerod Armstrong of San Francisco CA. Sister to Sherie Sanford of Reseda CA, and her late brother Bobby Colburn. She was also cherished by her three grandchildren Alexandria, Aden and Arik Armstrong all of Gardnerville NV.


She attended high school at Birmingham Senior High, and then went onto Respiratory Therapy school, where she met her husband Greg Armstrong. Not too long later they were married and spent 17 years together raising their two sons in Van Nuys, CA. They had numerous interests together that included scuba diving, camping and hiking Mt Whitney.


She worked for the US Postal Service for 20+ years in Southern California, South Lake Tahoe California, in addition to Gardnerville Nevada. She retired in 2013.


Sherlyn lived in South Lake Tahoe California for 7 years before moving to Gardnerville Nevada, where she met Doug Fong. They were together for 14 years until her death. They enjoyed Horseback Riding, boating, taking the dogs on hikes and spending quality time together.


In her spare time Sherlyn enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, puzzles, riding her three horses, as well as spoiling her two dogs Toby and Cody.


Yet her strongest skill set was caring for the people in her life that she loved and because of this she will truly be missed.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Vance and Ione, as well as her brother Bobby.


A Celebration of life will be held on October 22nd at Carson Valley Inn. All who knew this wonderful woman are invited in sharing some laughter and stories with her family by dropping by anytime between 2pm - 5pm at CVI’s Kingsbury Banquet Room.


The family asks that if sending flowers, that they are only to be sent to the Carson Valley Inn on October 22nd for her Celebration of life ceremony.
