Whiskey Frappe: A gentleman traveling in the West says that he was standing in the store of a small village one day during the very cold weather when a little boy came in and asked for a quart of whiskey. Taking up a hatchet, the storekeeper stepped up to the barrel, and breaking the head, cut out a lump, saying to the boy, “There, I guess that’s about a quart; take it home and thaw it out.”

Arbor Day: It is proposed to allow the citizens of Carson to have Sutro’s evergreen trees by paying two bits apiece for them. It is proposed in this way to make enough to pay express charges. People who are too poor to pay will be furnished trees free.

General Manager Ardery of the V&T railway left for San Francisco yesterday. His departure again revived the stories that there was something in the wind concerning the sale of the V&T Railroad to the Western Pacific Company.

Carson City’s Leisure Hour Club will play host to the 10th district convention of the Federated Women’s Club to be held here this weekend, announced Mrs. G. W. Russell, president of the local organization.

Nevada’s sedate little capital might jump ahead of flashy Las Vegas and start the first bar in the state featuring topless cocktail waitresses. The new owners of the Red Rooster, just north of the city limits, placed an ad in the Nevada Appeal inviting women to apply for serving drinks without the benefit of clothes above the waist.

Political candidates would be held more accountable for their unspent campaign funds under an Assembly bill introduced Wednesday by Assemblyman Virgil Ghetto, R-Fallon.
