More mental health resources needed in Carson City

I too believe there is a mental health issue in Carson City. And it’s been going on for a long time. People needing proper medications for their ongoing issues are, for whatever reason, not getting them. This I have witnessed ...

There is a man in his late 40s who has been stumbling around Carson City for a long time. He is so bedraggled and smells like urine. That it is likely his own family wouldn’t recognize him if they saw him.

He continually talks to himself. His clothes are nothing but dirty rags. Sometimes he’ll stand in one spot, shake his fists in the air, then scream obscenities at God.

This man is either a cleverly disguised sheriff’s deputy keeping an eye on things in Carson City by watching for miscreants lurking about, or he’s a man in dire need of some professional mental health. Money says it’s the latter and not the former.

It is obvious he and others like him are troubled by conjured-up demons following him everywhere — demons that I’m quite sure would go away if he had the proper medication.

I think maybe a shave, clean clothes and a bath would soon follow. Let us all definitely keep that one in our prayers. This man needs all the help he can get.

So why isn’t mental health doing anything for this guy, like getting him off the streets, finding him food, clean clothes and shelter where he can bathe? I guess we’ll probably never know.
