Carson City native stars in musical film to be screened Aug. 15

A Carson City native starring in a musical will appear at the film’s Carson City premiere on Aug. 15, according to a release.

Grant Davis, 20, stars in “Something Like Summer,” and will attend a screening at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., at 12:30 p.m. during the Jukebox Film Festival, the release said.

Davis was born in Carson City and graduated from Silver State Charter School in 2014. His parents are Angela and Clay Davis of Carson City and his maternal grandparents, Carol and Vaughn Williams, were longtime Northern Nevada residents.

“Something Like Summer” is an adaptation of the 2010 novel by Jay Bell. The young adult-themed story examines the journey of two Texas teenage boys who have fallen in love with each other, according to the release.

Davis, who performs four songs in the film, also is scheduled to give a free concert at 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 at Third Street Stage in Bob McFadden Plaza.

During his time in Carson City, Davis participated in productions at the Brewery Arts Center, Wild Horse Theater, Youth Theater Carson City and WMNTC. He resides in Los Angeles, where he moved at age 18 to pursue an acting career.
