SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson Tahoe Health and all those involved in organizing and to all those who participated in the HopeFest, which raises funds to battle cancer here locally.

SILVER DOLLAR: To all those who organized and to all those, who participated, including the many celebrities, in the Carl Howell Music Festival to honor Carson City’s fall deputy who died in the line of duty two years ago.

SILVER DOLLAR: To all those who helped put on the Carson Jazz and Beyond Festival which wrapped up today. As always the festival, which began on Aug. 4, brought the community many of genres of music to listen to and not just jazz.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Claudia Saavedra, who has retired, for her service as Carson City’s Alternative Sentencing Director.

SILVER DOLLAR: To 98-year-old Phyllis Bendure, a World War II veteran, who died last week, for her service to this country and to Nevada.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Western Nevada College president Chet Burton, who’s moving on to serve as chief financial officer for the Nevada System of Higher Education.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Nick Shine and Eddy and Dan Madsen for being inducted into the Carson High Football Hall of Fame.
