Another Shower. Carson and vicinity was blessed with another shower, yesterday afternoon. It purified and cooled the air in a degree that was very refreshing, following as it did a very sultry morning and noon. At sunrise yesterday there was a greater degree of heat than we have before noticed at that time of the day this season.

Tramps. Three young tramps were found sleeping in the barn near the old race track Wednesday night, and they were arrested for vagrancy. They had a hearing before Justice Witherell Thursday and were given two hours to appear for sentence. They occupied this period by gathering themselves together and skipping the town. No one cared about interfering with their travels.

An article showing the death rate among soldiers has been prepared. The report indicates that those killed only sixty in the thousand.

Western Nevada law authorities were altered today by officials of the Nevada state prison to be on the lookout for Charles H. Collier, 34, who was believed to have ridden through the main gate to freedom around 9 a.m. Today.

“Old No. 5” — a relic of the Carson Mint of bygone days, will return Tuesday and Eva Adams, director of the United States Mint, and a native Nevadan, will participate in the “welcome home” ceremony at the Nevada State Museum.

A convicted triple killer escaped death by lethal injection today less than four hours before his scheduled execution, but prosecutors are appealing the federal court ruling that spared him — Jimmy Neuschafer, 34.
