Hoppe wins Twlight League event at EV

Karen Hoppe shot a 35 to win low gross honors at Eagle Valley’s Twilight League event on Aug. 10.

Deb Ford and Darcy Johnson both shot 46 and Suzie Reiserer was fourth with a 50.

• On Aug. 16, Georgia Silva, Marie Werner and Gail Nelson combined to shoot a 123 in the 1-2-3 best ball format.


Johnson, Mott win at Silver Oak

Kevin Johnson and Shawn Mott won their respective flights at the recent Carson City Sunday Men’s Club Monthly Masters event at Silver Oak.

Johnson won Flight 1 with a net 67, one shot better than Jim Silsby and John Meyer, and two better than Jim Sapien.

Mott won Flight 2 with a net 60, six shots clear of William Kapczynski and seven better than Eric Moormann. Joe Paden and Jordan Payette tied for fourth with 68s.

Showcase coming to Carson City

The College Exposure Showcase is coming to Carson City Oct. 14-15 at the MAC Center.

Seven college coaches — two from William Jessup and one ach from Folsom Lake CC, Columbia College, South Puget Sound CC, Ray Navarro, Yakima Valley CC and Osa Esene from Blue Mountain CC will be in attendance. William Jessup is an NAIA school located in Rocklin, and the school recently signed Jayden DeJoseph to a basketball scholarship. Former CHS star Rafe King played two years at Columbia.

Junior colleges in California aren’t allowed to offer any financial help, but the schools listed above can give scholarships.

The cost is $195 before Oct. 1 and $245 after. Drills and fundamentals plus games are on the schedule for both days.

Coons wins CVGC tournament

Fred Coons, Augie Martinez and Gary Carsten won flights the recent Carson Valley Golf’s 3 clubs and a putter event on Aug. 13.

Coons won Flight A with a 70, four shots better than Danny Wallis. Martinez won Flight B with a 68, three clear of Garry Sparks. Carsten won Flight C with a 66, three shots ahead of Jim Tavernier.
