The Sacramento Record says” “We are informed that at the annual meeting of the grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Good Templars, which is to be held in this city on the 21st of September next, Hal Clayton, well known hereabouts, is to deliver the principal oration.” Mr. Clayton is the “Worthy Chief” of the Lodge of Good Templars in Carson.

One of the snappiest, fastest and perfectly played games of baseball ever pulled off at Valley Park in this city took place yesterday when the Sacramento team of the Southern Pacific league took the State Prison team down to defeat to the tune of 2 to 1. It was a pitcher’s battle throughout.

Chief of Police Howard Hoffman late yesterday established somewhat of a record in recovering a stolen automobile. Notified by the Reno police department shortly after 2 p.m. That a green paneled 1937 Plymouth truck had been stolen from in front o the Washoe market in Reno, Hoffman found the vehicle 35 minutes later. It was parked on Robinson street between the Arlington Hotel and the Nevada state museum.

A small Siamese kitten which spent four nights near the top of an 80-foot cottonwood tree on West Washington street is believed to have come down alone, despite the efforts of an entire Carson neighborhood, the Carson City police, fire department, dog control, city council an Sierra Pacific Power Company. “We can’t feed him, and he screams all night,” said Mrs. James Roberts of 900 W. Washington St.
