Carson City supervisors to consider new management for Eagle Valley Golf Course

Carson City’s Eagle Valley Golf Course could soon have a new operator.

A 20-year lease agreement with Carson City Municipal Golf Corp., expires at the end of the month and the Board of Supervisors on Thursday will vote on a five-year contract with a new vendor.

Three businesses responded to the city’s request for proposal posted in October and the supervisors will vote whether to sign with Duncan Golf Management, considered as the most responsive and responsible bidder. The current operator didn’t submit a proposal.

Eagle Valley Golf Course is owned by the city and consists of two, 18-hole golf courses. The golf course takes about 25 percent of the city’s effluent to irrigate 213 acres of turf and vegetation.

The board will also consider two alternatives for revamping the process for filling seats on the city’s Planning Commission.

Both proposed approaches calling for each supervisor to nominate one member to the seven-member commission. One alternative would start the process as the terms of current members expire, the second scenario would start the nominating process next year.

Nevada Rural Housing Authority will present its 2017 housing study to the board.

Among the findings: from 2010 to 2016, the supply of multi-family housing increased by 114 units while renter households increased by an estimated 830 households.

NRHA’s study says the rental market is at nearly 100 percent capacity and 1,350 new units of multi-family housing are needed.

The Board of Supervisors meets at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room, Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
