Despite missing leading scorer Zane Warkentin, Sierra Lutheran High School’s boys basketball team rolled to a 63-38 win over Sage Ridge on Thursday night at Sierra Lutheran.
Kyman Berger led the way with 14 points, Brett Walker added 12 and Luke Bonafede added 11 plus 11 rebounds and three steals.
Logan Schinzing had seven defensive rebounds. Thomas Mellum and Walker finished with three steals apiece.
The Falcons are 3-2 on the season.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Douglas 56, South Tahoe 17
MINDEN — Hannah Carr scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to help spark Douglas to a 56-17 non-league win against South Tahoe on Thursday night.
Douglas (3-3 overall, 1-1 Sierra League) led 15-5 after one quarter and 32-13 at halftime. The fourth quarter was played with a running clock.
Madison Smalley scored 12 points, while Ashlynn Campbell and Hailey Hughes added seven each for the Tigers.
Hailey Naccarato scored 10, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead South Tahoe (0-5).
Dayton girls lose tourney opener
ZEPHYR COVE — Dayton dropped its Whittell Tournament opener, 51-25, to Mineral County on Thursday afternoon.
Dayton plays Incline today at 2 p.m.
“We couldn’t buy a basket today,” Dayton coach Kelly Frantz said. “We missed everything in the 8-to-10 foot range.”
