United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada (UCPNV), a local non-profit serving people with cerebral palsy, down syndrome, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities, has recently expanded its services to Carson City and Gardnerville. This expansion allows residents of these cities to receive day habilitation, workforce development and employment services offered by UCPNV. In both Carson City and Douglas County, roughly 40 percent of the population lives with a disability. UCPNV services like day habilitation are person-centered and give individuals with disabilities choices over their daily activities, allowing them to identify areas of interest for possible volunteerism or employment. Other services, such as employment training programs help people develop the skills necessary to find a job and be a productive employee.
“We offer many services in Reno, Sparks and Elko, and expanding our programs in some of our outlying communities will allow us to support more Nevada citizens with disabilities,” said Monica Elsbrock, CEO of UCPNV. “These programs are specifically designed to help individuals with disabilities make choices about their lives, whether it be recreational or vocational, and truly live life without limits.”
UCPNV has established offices in Carson City and Garnderville where individuals will be able to receive day habilitation, workforce development training and employment services.
