The locomotives in Nevada: We learn from Mr. Dyer, of the Washoe state line, that the cars are now running from Colburns to Crystal Peak. There is a gap of five miles only between Colburns and the most Eastern tunnel; and there are but eight hours of stage travel now involved in the hence to Sacramento.

Various notes: Mrs. A____________ has postponed her party, as she was unable to get the refreshments without putting up in advance. The engagement at the north end of town is broken off, as it has been discovered that McGuinness has already a wife in the states east of the mountains.

A letter received today by the Red Arrow garage in this city asks that the public be informed that the road over Placerville summit is closed for the season. No machine, the letter states, has been able to make the trip recently without great hardship and no team is not there to help autoists out if they get stuck.

The Virginia & Truckee Railway will have a power shovel at work removing debris covering the track in Washoe Canyon. The Cradlebaugh bridge was reported dry early this afternoon and it was believed that it would be opened to traffic before the end of the day. The crest of the flood reported had not reached Dayton early this afternoon.

Ormsby County Board of Education has started preliminary plans for construction of a three-classroom wing to Carson High School for completion next summer.

The Carson City Tourism Authority is looking at financial good news in the future. A financial windfall is expected from more than 80,000 visitors to the area for an international bowling tournament.
