Richard “Rich” Lee Harmon passed away at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on February 1, 2017 after a courageous battle with health issues. He was 49.
Rich was a proud, fourth generation, native Nevadan, born in Las Vegas on November 12, 1967.
Rich grew up in Carson City and graduated from Carson High School in 1986. After high school he worked in construction until he began his career with the Nevada Department of Transportation, eventually retiring in 2012 after 22 years
of dedicated service.
Rich loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, golfing and spending many weekends with his family camping in the Graeagle area.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Joanne.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Mary; his daughter Shelby; his father Harold; and brother Ron (Veronica). Rich also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, located at 1281 North Roop Street, Carson City, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at the Westside Pour House, 110 West Telegraph Street.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be sent to the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation, Mail Stop 0162, Reno, Nevada 89557 for a scholarship that will be set up in Rich’s honor.
