Valentine’s Day: We guess there was no general observance of the customs which obtain on St. Valentine’s Day here yesterday. We only know of one billy ducks being received. Our carrier got that. It don’t set him up much. It wouldn’t look very sweetly in print. Oh! I was an awful blast!

A “sensible” woman, as Dr. Abernathy would have called her, was discovered by a shy man, who made her rather an original proposal. He bought a wedding ring and sent it to the lady, inclosing a sheet of note paper with the brief question, “Does it fit?” By return of post he received for an answer, “Beautifully.”
