Picture of Princess Added to Collection — A picture of the Indian princess Sarah Winnemucca, daughter of the old chief Winnemucca, one of the best known Indian chiefs that ever directed the affairs of a tribe in Nevada, has been given to the Nevada Historical Society, says the Reno Gazette.

New Board Organizes and Asks for bids on a Location for Building — The new high school board met and organized by electing A. D. Drumm, holdover, as president, and F. G. Hough Clerk, attorney A. L. Haight being the third member. The clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for a new high school site of from 10 to 20 acres. It is preferred by the board that the full tract be in one place, but as the location of the buildings is desired to be fairly close in to the residence section of town so that all may avail themselves of entertainments that may be given at the high school.

75 Years Ago

Inner Tubes and Coffee Cans Make Band Instruments — Some clever rhythm band instruments have been made in several of the primary grades. Boys and girls brought materials such as inner tubes and coffee cans for drums, bottle caps for the paper plate tambourines, milk cartons with gravel to serve as dry gourds, wood for the sand blocks, and horse shoes as a substitute for triangles. It is believed that since the rhythm is fundamental in many functions of daily life other than music, much value is to be received from the making and playing of instruments.

Twenty-Five Years Ago — Geneva Buerer and Naomi Ayers of Harmon district are boarding in town and attending high school to avoid the long ride these cold mornings. Frank Marsh, whose marriage to Miss Stella Greenwood was announced a couple of weeks ago, has accepted a position with the S. P. company in San Francisco and will reside there permanently. Ray Downs is having a beautiful bungalow built on the downs ranch about seven miles from town.

7 Players on All-Stars — Five CCHS Football players made the Nevada state A A Conference Football first team, and two were selected for the second team. Those making the first team are: Rick Beach, Earl Doege and Richard Eyre, all tackles, Charlie Hall, End, and John Wright, Running Back. Those on the second team are: Jerry Hall, Running Back and David Munoz, Guard. Fallon is proud of these boys, and of the Greenwave and their excellent record this past fall.

Junior Bowling Program to Begin Saturday — The Junior Bowling program will start this Saturday, Jan 7th. All junior bowlers, be at Oasis Bowl promptly at one o’clock in the afternoon. Bring your member ship fees and funds for three lines of bowling. You will also have an election of officers. Any Junior, age 12 to 18.
