It was a rough day on the diamond for Carson City Little League all-star teams. The Carson 12’s dropped into the loser’s bracket after a 12-2 five-inning loss to Reno Continental, and the 10s suffered a 15-0 loss to Truckee and are now in the consolation bracket. After stranding a runner at third base in the first inning, Reno Continental exploded for seven runs in the second on just five hits. Matt Rohon walked and moved to second on a Henry Curtis single. Jake Zmak doubled home Rohon for the game’s first run. Jake Woodhead followed with a two-run single to up the lead to 3-0. Jace Maples and Jack Hemholz contributed run-scoring singles, and an error also allowed a run to score. The winners scored four more in the third, two coming on a homer by Matt Capel, one on an error and one on a single by Michael King, who doubled home his team’s final run of the game in the fifth. Carson’s only runs came in the bottom of the third on run-scoring singles by Cameron Boeckman and Tyler Palmer. Both hits came off Andrew Capel, who inherited a first-and second situation from his older brother, Matt. He was able to strand runners at second and third to end the third inning. Carson came close to scoring in the fifth, putting runners on first and third thanks to singles by Eaton and Boeckman, but Palmer struck out and Kai Miller rolled to short. Carson managed just four hits, two by Boeckman and one each by Palmer and Eaton. Reno Continental finished with 11 hits, two by Woodhead. It has been feast or famine for the Carson 10’s who have been blanked in both of their losses. Carson managed just one hit, a single by Tavin Miler.
