Celebrities from sports, film and music will flock to Northern Nevada next week for the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament.
The event takes place July 11-16 at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nev. as celebrities play for $600,000 worth of prize money. Amateur golfers will also have the opportunity to play alongside the celebrities before the main tournament begins.
There are 89 celebrities signed up this year and the course is sold out on amateur player positions. Tuesday through Thursday, the celebrities will meet and play with amateurs with the tournament kicking off Friday.
According to a representative from the South Tahoe Visitor’s association, they expect full attendance each day of the tournament. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through the course or at several other locations — During the amateur days, tickets cost $20 per day; for the actual tournament, the cost goes up to $30 per day with children 10 and under being admitted for free (two children may enter per adult).
Spectators are advised to review Edgewood’s safety and etiquette rules before attending. Due to the summer heat, bringing plenty of fluids, use of sunscreen and hats, and wearing comfortable clothes is advised.
The tournament will be broadcast on NBC Sports. For more information, go to www.americancenturychampionship.com.
