Eagles Carnival program: Miss Mattie Roberts and Escorts will arrive in the morning, and she will be crowned Queen Martha I at night. At 10 o’clock, the carnival will open by the firing of rifles, then roping contest and throwing of steer with his teeth by Maganalgill’s traveling assistant. Then other events will follow — the blue rock pigeon shoot, first league game of the carnival between Reno and Carson, the coronation parade that will wend its way to the throne situated among dusk myriads of electric lights in front of the State Capitol. The keys of the city will be presented to Queen Martha I, and the coronation ball will be held in the dancing pavilion in the Capitol grounds.

Jayne Mansfield: One week after she was killed in a highway collision, her three children were picked up by their father, Mickey Hargity, along with two Chihuahua puppies, also in the accident. Mickey Jr., 8, was in a wheelchair with a cast of his arm and leg; the two younger children, Zolton, 6, and Maria, 3, walked beside their father. Maria underwent plastic surgery and wore a large bandage around her head.
