All sorts: Alf. Doten has been elected President of the Pacific Coast Pioneers. A large number of Carsonites will spend the day at Washoe Lake in pursuit of perch and catfish.

Valley Park: Carpenters, painters and plasterers are putting finishing touches on the three cottages that have been built. They are modern in every way and the finest in this city. Additional cottages will be built as fast as purchasers or tenants can be secured. The Valley Park addition is destined to fill a long felt want in Carson City and with many attractive homes that will go up in that section will add to the value of the property in the eastern part of Carson City.

Evening of pleasure: July 18 will be an evening of pleasure — There will be a mystery booth under the supervision of Mrs. Brodigan and Miss Raffetto, a candy booth where you will find sweets for sale by “Sullivan & Souchereau.” There will be fancy work, punch booths, fishpond, and jitney dance, where young and old may trip the light fantastic at five cents per couple. Sandwiches, coffee, ice cream and cake all for the modest price of 25 cents. (Everyone knows Mrs. Glanzman’s coffee).

Photo caption: New for Vietnam — A new lightweight subsonic jet plane, the A37 — which the Air Force plans to test for close air support in Vietnam. A squadron of planes will go to the war zone this fall for evaluation. The twin-engine plane, built by Cessna Aircraft Co., in Wichita, Kan., is designed for close air support of ground forces, interdiction missions and counter insurgency warfare.
