Steph Curry tops father in American Century Championship; Dell Curry takes a swim

STATELINE — Steph Curry got the best of his dad, Dell, in their 54-hole battle at the 28th annual American Century Championship.

Steph, who led the Warriors to their second NBA title in three years, finished the third round with a tournament-best 28 points for a three-day total of 60.

Dell, meanwhile, struggled with three double-bogeys on his back nine and five overall en route to a minus-3 for the day, and a three-day total of 23.

The two had an interesting wager. The loser had to take a polar plunge with golf attire on before leaving Lake Tahoe.

And, the elder Curry did indeed take the plunge on national television right before the tournament went off the air.

TOP WOMAN: Blair O’Neal edged Paige Spiranac by one point, 51-50, to win the battle for best women’s player this week.

O’Neal had rounds of 18,19 and 14, and Spiranac turned in rounds of 16, 11 and 23.

Lisa Cornwell finished with 39 after rounds of 18, 9 and 12.

BIG MOVE: The biggest moves up the leaderboard were by Jeremy Roenick and Steph Curry.

Roenick started the day 16th, and on the strength of a 1-under-par 71, finished fifth with 56 points.

Curry started 13th and finished third with 60 points thanks to a 4-under-par 68, which included three birdies and one eagle. The eagle came on the par-5 18th.
