Paiute Language Class — 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays, Wadsworth Community Building, 320 Pyramid St., Wadsworth.

Substance Abuse Support Group — 6-7 p.m., Tuesdays, Sumunumu Resource Center, 460 W. Main St., Fernley. Topics discussed include narcotics abuse, alcohol abuse and anger management.

Women’s Circle Craft Night and Potluck — 5-6:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, 101 Big Bend Ranch Road, Wadsworth.

Victim Services Program Women’s Advisory Committee — 5-6:30 p.m., second Wednesday of the month, Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, 101 Big Bend Ranch Road, Wadsworth.

Scrapbooking for Beginners — 5-6:30 p.m., first Wednesday of the month, Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, 101 Big Bend Ranch Road, Wadsworth. Call 775-575-9444.

Teen Dating Violence Support Group — 5:45-6:30 p.m., third Wednesday of the month, Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, 101 Big Bend Ranch Road, Wadsworth.

Yoga — The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe holds classes weekly on Wednesday. Hours and location vary. Call 775-574-1018.

Weekly Teen Parenting Class — 6-7:30 p.m., Thursdays, Sumunumu Resource Center, 460 W. Main St., Fernley.

Nuumu Yadoha Language Classes — 5:30-6:30 p.m., Thursdays. Sponsored by the Bishop Paiute Tribe, the classes are held weekly. Contact the tribal office for location and other details: 760-873-3584.

Literacy Skills for Parents — Come to the Carson TANF office, 2310 S. Carson St., at 1 p.m. Thursdays to learn how to help your children develop strong reading and writing skills. The class also includes information from The Twelve Universal Laws of Success by Herbert Harris, articles from the U.S. Department of Education, as well as Native based resources.

Weekly Community Market — 5 p.m.-dusk, Thursdays, Paiute-Shoshone Cultural Center 2300, W. Line St., Bishop, Calif.

Talking Circle — 5:30-6:30 p.m., second Friday of the month, Paiute-Shoshone Cultural Center, 2300 W. Line St., Bishop, Calif.

Sexual Assault Support Group — 5-6:30 p.m., fourth Friday of the month, 101 Big Bend Ranch Road, Wadsworth.

Freedom to Be You — 1-2 p.m., Saturdays, 101 Big Bend Ranch Road, Wadsworth. The women’s educational support group meets weekly to discuss a different topic each session. Childcare is available on site.

Beading/Regalia Making — 6 p.m., every other Thursday through July 27, HV Recreation Room, 9075 Eagle Canyon Drive, Sparks. Bishop Paiute Trial Council Meeting — 5:30 p.m., July 27 and Aug. 10, Bishop Paiute Reservation, 2490 Diaz Lane, Bishop, Calif.

Ely Shoshone Tribe Fandango Powwow — July 28-30, Learning Bridge Charter School, 505 Pioche Highway, Ely. Hundreds of dancers will help showcase Native American culture at the annual event. 2017 Wa She Shu It Deh Festival — July 29-30, Tallac Historic Site, 1 Heritage Way, South Lake Tahoe. The festival began as an opportunity to promote the basketry of the Washoe Tribe and showcase their beautiful fancy basketry. It has since continued to grow and now features basketry demonstrations, music, fine art, photography, dance performances and storytelling. A Tribe Called Red performance/Reno Artown finalé — July 31, Wingfield Park in Reno. From 4-7 p.m., come out and enjoy Native American art, food and cultural celebrations. Then at 7:30 p.m., watch A Tribe Called Red, a fresh, modern take on Traditional Native American music and dancing. Their musical style mixes modern hip-hop, traditional powwow drums and vocals, blended with edgy electronic music. This event mark the end to the 2017 Reno Artown event. Nadugwina 2017 — 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Aug. 5 and 6, Fort McDermitt Indian Reservation, 111 North Road, McDermitt, Nev. The Numu community will be gathering to share stories, songs, history, language and traditions. Meals will be provided, and the event will be recorded. Senior Fun Day — 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 24, Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, 34 Reservation Road, Reno. Put your party hat on and gather inside the gym for a nutritious lunch and elder information. Also planned are games of Bingo, a hat contest and a raffle open to anyone who wears a hat. The event is for elders 55 and older. No children or grandchildren. For information, call 775-329-9929.

UPCOMING BASKETBALL EVENTS

Native Ironman — July 28-29, Needles, Calif. Open to Native men 18 and older. Entry costs $350 per player. Awards will be given including $2,000 for first and $500 for second as well as $500 for MVP. 3rd Annual Freedom of Ballers — July 20-23, Windown Rock Sports Center, Window Rock, Ariz. The cost for men, women and coed divisions is $150 per person. High school boys and girls pay $140 each. For information, contact Frankie at 505-906-5155.

Lori Piestewa Native American Tournament — July 21-23, Salt River Recreation Center, Scottsdale, Ariz. The cost is $340 per team. Contact Justin Peterson at 602-740-8264. Medals will be awarded to players of the top three teams.

Back 2 School Bash XI — Aug. 4-6, Window Rock Sports Center, Window Rock, Ariz. Division: 5-7 Coed; 8-10 coed; 13u coed; 16u boys and girls. Awards will be given. Entry is $120. Contact 505-870-3342 for information.

DREAMS Tournament — Aug. 4-6, Sinagua Middle School, Flagstaff, Ariz. Divisions are 8-9 coed; 10-11 coed; 12-14 coed; 15-18 coed; 10-11 boys; 12-14 boys; 15-18 boys; 10-11 girls; 12-14 girls; 15-18 girls; adult men’s; adult coed. All kids divisions are $175 to enter. Rep Your Tribe — Aug. 19-20, Tulalip Teen Center, Tulalip, Wash. The event is coed teen open to grades 9-12 and coed adult. Teens pay $150 to play; adults $200.
