November 24, 1933 ~ July 20, 2017
Surrounded by family at his home in Carson City, Paul Francis D’Anneo passed from this life to the next July 20, 2017. Paul was born in Oakland, CA on November 24, 1933 to Arnaldo and Ruth (Dobbins) D’Anneo. He married Barbara Moore in Berkeley, CA. Having attended Cal Poly, he worked as an electronics engineer.
Paul had deep roots in the Lake Tahoe area. In 1918 his grandparents bought property at Fallen Leaf Lake where Paul spent the summers of his youth. Over his lifetime he added rooms to the original home, which has now passed to the fifth generation to cherish and enjoy. Paul’s pride and joy, a restoration project of a scuttled circa 1895 boat he named The Cathedral, which lived on Fallen Leaf Lake for decades, is currently on loan to the Maritime Museum in Tahoe City, where it is prominently displayed.
Paul is survived by Barbara, his wife of 60+ years; daughters, Ruth D’Anneo Rich (John) of South Lake Tahoe, and Andrea D ‘Anneo Ardzrooni (Paul) of Elk, CA.; grandchildren, Jack and Will Rich, Genevieve Parrett, and Gregory Ardzrooni; brother, Andrew D’Anneo; sister, Francesca D’Anneo; several cousins; nine nieces and nephews; many “adopted” sons and daughters; and a bevy of dogs.
Remembered as a kind, loving, talented, charming, generous, and unassuming man, Paul was an all-around wonderful human being, a proud patriarch, and an excellent example of one who has lived many lives in one lifetime, all to their fullest. He leaves a wonderful legacy of success in his chosen profession and of building a life and home with his wife, children, and grandchildren, highlighted by many happy times, teachable moments, and unwavering love of his bride.
He was a man of few words. When he said something, it was charming, quick, clever, and thoughtful. Paul loved to wait until someone got his pun and would then reward them with his smile, a wink, and the evident pride that his joke was understood.
During this time of transition, the family expresses its great gratitude to Eden Hospice and The Change Place Team for their support.
Two services are planned. A service will take place at 10am at St. Francis of the Mountains Chapel at Fallen Leaf Lake, 280 Fallen Leaf Rd. S.L.T.,CA, on August 19th. A second service will take place at 11am, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 314 N. Division St., Carson City, NV on September 9th.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to FISH, The Greenhouse Project, Circles of Support, or the Brewery Arts Center, all located in Carson City.
