It’s going to be hot this weekend. Then, it’s going to be hotter.
The National Weather Service is forecasting “significant heat” next week with highs in Carson City approaching, and perhaps reaching, 100 degrees, according to the NWS website.
Reno is forecast to be even hotter, topping out at 104 degrees on Wednesday while Fallon is forecast to hit 106 that day.
Before that, though, this weekend offers highs in the low to mid 90s with a slight chance of thunderstorms on Saturday.
A slight chance of thunderstorms returns to the forecast on Wednesday before temperatures are predicted to dip slightly, back into the high 90s.
The forecast for Carson City:
Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 93. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
Saturday night: Isolated showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 58. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Sunday: Sunny with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Sunday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 61.
Monday: Sunny with a high near 95 and low around 61.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 98 and low around 63.
Wednesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 100.
Wednesday night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy with a low around 65.
Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny with a high near 98.
