Good day at the track: John Sweeny advertised Monday’s races — The first trotting race was won by Sweeny’s horse “Baldy.” The half-mile running dash was won by the pluck of young Edwards, the rider of “Lookout” the Genoa horse. Just as he reached the home stretch the girth of the saddle broke. The rider realized what happened and seizing the flyer’s mane, he allowed the saddle to slip from under him and won the race.
