Thomas Warren Fettic, age 81, passed away peacefully at home with family on May 22, 2017.
Tom was born on September 12, 1935 in Weed, California to Mary Fettic. He had an active youth and played football for Carson High School from which he graduated in 1954. After graduation, he worked for Atlantic Richfield.
On June 12, 1955, Tom married Jean Seymour in Virginia City at St. Mary’s in the Mountains. Their son, Blaine Thomas Fettic was born November 2, 1958.
On June 1, 1960, Tom became a Carson City Sheriff’s Office patrolman. He became Sergeant in 1965 and Lieutenant 7/1/1970. He left the sheriff’s office to work for Nevada State Attorney General Robert List as Special Investigator. In 1979 Tom became Under Sheriff for Hal Dunn. From 1984-1992 Tom served on the Carson City Board of Supervisors. He also served one term in the Nevada State Legislature as Assemblyman from 1994-1996. After retirement, Tom worked in Real Estate for a time.
Tom met the love of his life, Joan during a traffic stop and they married December 29, 1969 and the rest is history! They loved camping and fishing. They rode street motorcycles for a time. They enjoyed frequent trips to the Bay Area with family. They eventually purchased a motor home and spent many many weekends camping and travelling with family and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved Joan in 2011.
He is survived by his son Blaine(Julia); his adopted daughter, Lori(Roger); brother Michael(Linda); sisters MaryAnn McCulloch (Lee) and Jackie Sandoval(Juan); grandchildren Kris(Michelle), Karalyn(Connie), Mary, Brandi and Joey; great-grandchildren Aja, Layla and Anthony; as well as nieces and nephews. And his very special little dog friend, Missy.
A Celebration of Live will be held on June 10, 2017 at 11AM at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St., Carson City casual dress only.
