September 19, 1943 ~ January 23, 2017
Beloved wife, mother, sister, travel partner and best friend, Nancy Grange passed away peacefully on January 23, 2017.
Nancy was born on September 19, 1943 to Patricia and Frank Craven in Pasadena, California.
After graduating from Redlands University in Redlands, California, Nancy and her husband, Kurt Grange, lived briefly in Salt Lake City, Utah, before becoming forty-four year residents of Carson City, Nevada.
Nancy taught first grade at C.C. Menely and Scarcellii Elementary schools in Gardnerville for over 30 years before her retirement in 2003. Never one to be idle, Nancy then actively pursued other life interests such as watercolor and oil painting, travel, swimming, and piano as well as weekly cards with her friends. Nancy was also passionate about animal rescue and worked to support no-kill shelters, as well as adopting many rescue dogs herself, which she doted upon.
Nancy was an exceptional lady, and her kindness, compassion, and sense of humor touched all who knew her, from the many first grade students she taught over the years, to the hundreds of high school students she chaperoned through Europe on the Academy Abroad World Citizenship Program, to her family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her every day.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Frank Craven.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kurt Grange; her son, Scott Grange of Reno, Nevada; daughter, Krista (Grange) Perrault of Anchorage, Alaska; and her five grandchildren, Miranda Grange, Adam Grange, Logan Grange, Tyler Perrault, and Sydney Perrault. She is also survived by her sisters, Margie Tamori and Barbara Cochenour of Carson City, Nevada; and her brother, Micky Craen of Bend, Oregon.
Nancy loved the celebration and family festivities that always took place on the 4th of July, therefore, an open house “Celebration of Life” will be held on July 4, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at 1712 Karin Dr., Carson City, Nevada for those who wish to honor, celebrate and remember her time upon this earth.
