The examination in the public school yesterday was attended by Superintendent A.N. Fisher and a number of parents, who expressed themselves well pleased with the exercises, the scholars evincing a thoroughness in their studies obtained only by careful study and faithful training.

Carson’s water supply: Mains choked with dead fish: For the past few days there has been considerable trouble with the water supply of this city. Many families have been unable to obtain water through the pipes and others complain the water is muddy and foul with the remnants of dead fish. Yesterday an Appeal reporter made a tour of inspection and found people considerably excited over the matter.

The first little real touch of war, brought home in full forcefulness to Carson City, was pictured to those who witnessed the departure of the motor this morning in Reno. Ernest Williams, the first of the Carson boys to pass all requirements and to be actually assigned to duty, came to the station surrounded by his mother, father, sisters and brothers and many admiring friends, young and old. We agree with you, General Sherman. It surely is hell.

The Pozzi Motor Company on S. Carson Street today observed its 25th anniversary of continuous service to this section of the state. Since opening of the Carson City garage, Pozzi has been a Ford distributor since 1922.

Kathleen Lennon of the Lennon Sisters singing group was married Monday afternoon at the Sunset Wedding Chapel in Carson City to Mahlon B. Clark, 44, of Santa Monica. It was the first marriage for 23-year-old Kathy who is next to the youngest of the five sisters.

Carson City Fire Chief Bernie Sease couldn’t believe what he saw Friday afternoon. A glowing and searing red wall of fire 200 feet high posed above the pricey Lakeview subdivision in northwest Carson City and then snapped down. “It’s the highest flame I’ve ever seen in my career,” Sease said.
