Carson High School is seeking volunteers to help judge senior projects.
The high school is going to provide training to help judges understand all that’s expected of them.
Senior Projects are mandatory for every student to complete to get their diploma. Students select a project and develop a portfolio based upon completion of the project. The students then present to community members a speech in which they detail the hands-on portion of their project.
Each panel typically consists of five students facilitated by one teacher, and usually has three to five community judges.
All formal panel presentations will be held on Monday, April 24, in three time cycles. Presentation times are at 8 to 9:40 a.m., 10 to 11:40 a.m. and noon to 1:40 p.m.
Portfolios can be reviewed Monday, April 10, through Saturday, April 22. Review times are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
It usually takes about 30 minutes per portfolio.
There are three training sessions for judges, which is recommended. Those are Tuesday, April 11, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; Thursday, April 13, from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers will be accepted until panels become full. To register, go to www.carsonhigh.com. For information email the Senior Project coordinator at SeniorProject@carson.k12.nv.us or at 283-1640.
