Carson City Ghost Walk opens summer season May 27

Carson City’s rich and intriguing history will be explored and theatrically relived in a ghostly walking tour led by Madame Curry.

Curry is the witty and fictional character named after the widow of Carson City’s founder, Abraham Curry. Portrayed by Mary Bennett, she’s returning to this year’s Ghost Walk, which is celebrating 25 years in the capital city.

The evening walking tours are a spooky way to experience Carson City’s Victorian Era and diverse history.

Hear about lingering spirits of the long ago centuries, haunted and paranormal stories and gossip from the past.

The guided walking tour offers a glimpse at the downtown district’s historic homes and businesses on the west side.

Some of the stops along the tour include the Bliss, Ferris and Rinckel mansions.

The Ghost Walk’s summer season opens May 27, in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Other tours are planned on June 17; July 8 and 22; Aug. 5 and 19 and Sept. 16 and 30. An all-day tour will be on Oct. 21.

Tours depart at 6:30 p.m. from Third and Carson streets, near the Fox Brewpub housed in the St. Charles Hotel.

The tours leave rain or shine, and those who attend are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes before the walk begins.

Tickets are $15 in advance with an additional online fee, or $20 at the event.

Children under 3 can participate for free.
