Carson City has posted a video about preparing for possible spring flooding.
In the video, Carson City Fire Chief and Emergency Manager Sean Slamon talks about having enough medications, food, water and other essentials on hand in case runoff closes any of the roads in and out of Carson City.
Slamon also encourages residents to:
sandbag the low points of homes and outbuildings, and protect well heads from flood water;
keep vehicles fueled;
create defensible space around your home removing vegetation, branches and fire fuels;
develop a communications plan to ensure every person in the home knows what to do in an emergency;
and prepare a “go bag” and list of most important items in the event of evacuation.
