Bealls in the Carson Mall is closing.
The department store is shutting its doors on June 24 and started a going out of business sale on Friday, according to Bria Lundy, director of public relations at Stage Stores, Bealls Houston-based owner.
The store employs 12 or 13 workers, who will receive job placement assistance from the company, she said.
Bealls opened in Carson City in 2014 and is located in about 25,000 square feet of what was once Gottschalks department store.
Bealls is next door to Sportsman Warehouse, which also opened in 2014 and takes up the remaining 40,000 square feet of the former Gottschalks.
Stage Stores web site says it has more than 820 stores in 38 states. In 2015, the company had sales of $1.6 billion.
A call to Carrington Co., Carson Mall’s owner, also was not immediately returned.
