Finishing the season undefeated is one thing. Not allowing a single point is another.
The Greenwave capped off a perfect season in the Maverick division, defeating Lassen 15-0, on Saturday to win the Sierra Youth Football League championship at Damonte Ranch High School. It’s this age group’s second title after winning the Bandit division last year.
“We played tough defense all year,” Fallon coach Sean Richardson said. “The key to our defense was it was a team defense. It was 11 guys doing one job. When did they their job, they made great plays. It’s all based on our team defense.”
Richardson is assisted by Arron Clark, Cheddie Wilson, Chad Edgmon and Brody Hammon. The team includes Thomas Ames, William Brady, Bradley Cabral, Gage Christiano, Rylan Clark, Jace Conner, Avery DeAloia, Travis Dorman, Arad Duenas, Caleb Edgmon, Javier Garcia, Jesse Gerber, Dierks Hammon, Reese Hammond, Matthew Harral, James Lofthouse, Lincoln Neumann, Maxton Richardson, Kelten Rowland, Drake Rowlett, Rio Segura, Wesley Thompson, Virece Walker and Kenyon Wilson.
Fallon’s junior varsity team upset Reno last week to advance to the title game, but fell to Reed, 39-6.
