The Carson City Fire Department reports via Twitter that the landfill fire is fully contained.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. The landfill will reopen on Wednesday.

Carson City firefighters are battling a blaze at the Carson City landfill Tuesday afternoon, according to the Carson City Fire Department’s Twitter account.

CCFD crews were dispatched at approximately 2 p.m. to reports of a fire at the landfill.

“Firefighters are making progress,” the tweet said. “Currently, we have 2 brush engines, 1 structure engine, and 2 mutual aid resources.

“The landfill is currently closed until further notice.”
