Silver Dollars and Wooden Nickels is a weekly feature in the Appeal’s Opinion pages in which the Appeal gives Silver Dollars to those who deserve recognition and occasionally a Wooden Nickel to those who deserve criticism.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Living the Good Life for hosting and to all those who organized the Music Festival for Heroes to salute law enforcement. And to Ty Herndon for headlining today’s event. The Last Response Memorial Fund benefits from the event.
SILVER DOLLAR: To Douglas High’s Reagan Roberson, who earned a scholarship with the University of Nevada football team.
SILVER DOLLAR: To all those involved in organizing this weekend’s Jukebox International Film Festival.
SILVER DOLLAR: And finally it was another busy weekend in Carson City to say so long to summer so to speak as we also salute the Western Flat Track Motorcycle Racing Series for coming to town for the third straight year for tonight’s racing at Fuji Park.
SILVER DOLLAR: To the Carson City Fire Department and other agencies for making sure Monday’s Rifle Range Fire didn’t get out of control.
