The Carson High wrestling team had a solid showing at the Fallon Duals over the weekend, finishing with a 5-3 record.

Carson beat Fallon, 53-30, Truckee, 57-18, Elko’s B team, 54-24, Tonopah, 48-24, and Spanish Springs’ B team, 54-18. CHS lost to Elko, 42-32, Reno, 42-36, and Lowry, 42-36.

Alex Wells, a returning state qualifier, went 4-0 for the Senators. Carson’s other returning state qualifier, David Remer, saw limited action and went 1-1.

Also for Carson, Ariel Vega went 4-1, Luis Mayoral went 6-2, Clint DeWitt went 4-5, Thomas Legott went 5-2, Izayah Pando went 5-3, Cole Ashton went 4-1, Ridge Williard went 4-2 and De’Anjico Brown went 4-2.

Carson coach Nick Redwine said without a full squad, he believed his team’s only legitimate loss was to Reno as both teams had the same amount of wrestlers. He added his team just gave up too many matches against Elko and Lowry to overcome.

“We wrestled really hard, really tough,” Redwine said. “It was good for the first weekend. We definitely figured out a lot of stuff we’re going to work on.”
