Three Carson High wrestlers — Kyle Rudy, David Remer and Jesse Case — were named to the Northern 4A regional first team.
The wrestling all-region is based on where athletes place in the regional tournament. The top two finishers are first team and the third and fourth-place finishers are second team.
Izayah Pando, Alex Wells and Ty Evans were second-team honorees.
Spanish Springs’ Joe Imelli was named Coach of the Year. Jacob Ruiz of Spanish Springs was named the Lower Weight Wrestler of the Year, McQueen’s Joe Miller was named the Upper Weight Wrestler of the Year and Tyler Green, also of McQueen, was named the Middleweight Wrestler of the Year.

earn postseason honors
Four Carson High basketball players — two boys and two girls — were named to the all-Sierra League team.
Abel Carter was a second-team selection. Carter averaged 7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Trent Robison, who averaged 12.4 points and 7.8 rebounds a contest, was an honorable mention pick.
Lilian Bouza was a second-team pick. Final stats were unavailable, but Bouza was a consistent double-figure scorer. Bella Kordonowy, who didn’t finish the season because of a knee injury, was an honorable mention pick.
Both Carson’s boys and girls team finished fifth in the Sierra League standings.

Cody Main, Adam Daniels and Mikaela Asby were named the top award winners from Carson High at the American Legion Air Rifle Tournament held recently at Carson High’s indoor shooting range.
Main, a junior, captured first place. Daniels, a senior, was second place. Asby was a third-place finisher. Main, who shot in the top 2 percent in the country, will move on and compete again.
Competitors shoot from the prone, standing and kneeling position.
Membership open for
Dayton’s Palmer Club
The Dayton Valley Palmer Club is accepting membership applications for the 2018 season.
Any male golfer, 18 and above, can join by paying annual dues of $255. If you have a handicap at a different club, dues are $225.
The full dues include Northern Nevada Golf Association membership with a GHIN number and handicap, and entry into 10 tournaments. The tournaments include a Skins game, club championship and a two-day member-member tournament.
Members receive discounted green fees on tournament days and are eligible to play in weekly Palmer events on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with reserved tee times. The season begins March 24.

Eagle Valley club is
looking for members
The Eagle Valley Women’s Golf Club is accepting applications for the upcoming season. The season runs from April 11 to Oct. 17.
Members may choose to play 18 holes on Wednesday mornings and/or nine holes on Thursday afternoons after 4 p.m. with the Eaglets group.

Pumas win tourney
in Las Vegas
Carson City’s U-19 Pumas squad outscored opponents 23-2 en route to winning the Las Vegas Mayors Cup International Showcase recently.
Carson, using Paco Cazares from Galena as its goalkeeper, recorded four shutouts. Efren Ramirez, the Player of the Year in the Sierra League, scored 11 goals in the tournament.
Carson blanked the San Diego Machine, 5-0, in the championship match. Carson beat Washington East, 2-0, Colorado Pride United, 7-0, and USVI-Peter Gruber International Academy, 5-0, to reach the championship match.
